A New Way to Better Understand Your Body & Health

Coming soon to Alpine Apothecary — a quick, painless and cost-effective way to measure your antioxidant levels!

Why is it beneficial to know your antioxidant status?

Richard Cutler, PhD and former director of Anti-Aging Research at the National Institute of Health, has said, “The amount of key antioxidants that you maintain in your body is directly proportional to how long you will live.” Knowing your antioxidant levels can empower you to make improvements to your diet and lifestyle, and help you make an informed decision on which supplements are properly formulated to best impact your health.

The role of antioxidants in our body is to protect and feed our cells, which helps to slow down aging, limit illness, and prevent disease. Cells are made up of atoms and healthy atoms have “paired” electrons which then replicate. However, when atoms are missing electrons, known as free radicals, they steal electrons from surrounding atoms and can alter or destroy healthy cells. Cells that die or are replicated in a damaged state can cause and/or contribute to issues such as: premature aging; lowered immune systems; and diseases like cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, etc.

Introducing, the S3 Scanner

Unfortunately, consciously trying to increase our consumption of antioxidant-packed produce isn’t enough. The other factor involved is whether they are being properly absorbed and available for use by the body. When the gut biome is out of balance or inflammation is present, that absorption can be hindered. Lucky for us, there is now a Nobel Prize-winning technology that helps us verify our antioxidant score!

The S3 Scanner, also known as the Pharmanex BioPhotonic Scanner, is a tool that non-invasively measures carotenoid levels in living tissue. This then provides a person’s overall antioxidant levels in the form of their Skin Carotenoid Score (SCS). Starting September 15, 2021, the team at Alpine Apothecary will be offering Antioxidant Scans with this tool, so that everyone can instantly know their own antioxidant status.

How does it work?

You begin by placing the palm of your hand in front of the scanner and in less than a minute the device obtains your Skin Carotenoid Scores (SCS). The team at Alpine Apothecary then correlates your SCS into your to overall antioxidant status. With this information, we discuss strategies to improve your score and address other nutrition/gut related questions you may have.

This testing is a non-invasive, rapid, accurate, and safe. Getting such information early enough allows for the possibility of preventative intervention. We are offering this service for just $25.00. To book your test, fill out the form on our Contact Us page and select "I’d Like to Schedule an Antioxidant Scan” from the dropdown options. Please provide us days and times that would best work for you and we will be in touch to schedule you appointment.
